Detectable objects
The greatest operating distance is obtained with objects that consist of conductive (metallic) materials. The ope-
rating distance for these is independent of the thickness and the conductivity of the mAterial. The surface size of the
object affects the operating distance. The operating distance of objects that consist of non-conductive (non-metallic) materials is dependent on the dielectric constant (e r ). Objects consisting of materials with a high dielectric constant (e r ) have higher operating distances.
Objects with a higher dielectric constant (e r ) can be detected through objects with a lower dielectric constant (e r ) (e.g. fluids in glass containers).
